sings his love song ... My thoughts drift back ..to days past by Mockingbirds ballad is reminiscent of mischievous adventure s beginnings and ends ... deep connections to the mystery nights darkness holds You know the singing is from bachelor birds to attract the female mocking bird? I didn't! I digress from what I came to really share ~grin~ ...Which is Mother s and Vultures.... who knew? --------------------------------------------------------------------- This mothers day dining with my family, and more family. My brother saunters in. After squeezing into the two by two booth and ordering a coke says, "I guess Im going to die today..." I look at him with this look of shut up you total dork ~ then ask "Ok Darien why would this be?" "Well ," he replies, "I was riding my motorcycle down the street and out of nowhere fly these two huge vultures almost making me wipe out. Dont you think thats a sign of bad luck ? I mean they are birds of prey and death, right? " I think for a moment and think the thought sometimes things arent what they would seem ... Everyone around the table is apparently thinking the same thing and saying just as much "no no no they probably mean just the opposite!" trying to reassure him I offer " what would it matter anyway its not like it really means anything ." To which he counters me " yeah you of all people the one who is always looking for signs ..." I smile knowing he's right then he closes with some line from "The Alchemist's Handbook" about paying attention to signs and we drop it Later that evening inspired to find the meaning of what a vulture represented .. I googled this bit of info Thanks for bringing this up. When I dug into what vultures represent, I was surprised to learn they are a symbol of a devoted mother. Many of us here have thought Irma Pince, the Hogwarts' librarian is really Eileen Prince in disguise (I'm a Prince = Irma Pince) who is Severus Snape's mother. I think the question of whether Neville's grandmother was messing with his memory went unresolved, but from this vulture symbolism, we might at least infer that if she is doing something it is for well-intentioned reasons. From Wikipedia: In Southern Africa, the name for a Nubian vulture is synonymous with the term applied to lovers, because these vultures are always seen in pairs, mother and child remaining closely bonded together. Pairing, bonding, protecting, and loving are essential attributes associated with the vulture's size and its ability to soar high up in the sky. The Egyptians considered the vulture an excellent mother, and its wide wingspan was seen as all-encompassing and providing a protective cover to its infants. The vulture hieroglyph was the uniliteral sign used for the glottal sound (3) including words such as mother, prosperous, grandmother, and ruler. weird huh? I called to tell him and we both laughed .... strange life I'd say , and wouldnt want it any other way Happy exploring Love and smiles A
